What are the Eligibility Criteria for NEET?

Eligibility Criteria for Nationality
To be eligible for admission in Indian Medical Colleges through NEET 2021, a candidate must be:
- Indian National
- Non-Resident Indians (NRIs)
- Overseas Citizen of India (OCI)
- Foreign Nationals
- Persons of Indian Origin (PIO)
Age Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants who have completed the age of 17 years or will complete it before 31st December 2021.
- The maximum age limit is 25 years as of now. A relaxation of 5 years in the upper age limit of SC/ST/OBC-NCL category and PwD candidates.

Educational Qualification Criteria
- Applicants must have passed class 12th examination from a recognized board with a minimum of aggregate marks in these subjects- Physics, Chemistry & Biology/Biotechnology. They must have secured passing marks individually in PCB and English.

Eligibility for Seats
There are two kinds of seat distribution for the state and the centre under the NEET Entrance Exam. One is the 15% seats of All India Quota and another one is 85% seats under the state quota. Each set of seats have some criteria pertaining to the eligibility for it. So, only the students who fulfil all of these criteria are considered eligible for admission into these institutions.

Who is not eligible for NEET?
There is some specification for the students of a certain region. Although they can sit for the NEET UG 2021.
- Students who belong to the state of Jammu and Kashmir are not eligible for the 15% All India Quota (AIQ).
- Students from the UT of Ladakh are also not eligible for the 15% AIQ.
In case, the students from these regions want to claim the seats under the AIQ, they can always do so, by submitting a Self-Declaration claiming the seats. Also, this declaration will be essential to produce, as and when required during the admission process.

The first code is for the students who are appearing in Class 12th and wish to sit for the NEET UG 2021.
This code is for the candidates who have already completed their Class 12th.
The Code 03, is for all the candidates who have completed their Class XIIth with the subjects of with Biology/ Biotechnology, Physics, Chemistry and English.
This code is for the students who have already finished their pre-medical examination. Their subjects include Biology/ Biotechnology, Physics, Chemistry and English.
The Code 05, is for all such students who have finished up with the 1st year of their Bachelor’s degree. The degree must include subjects of Biology/ Biotechnology, Physics and Chemistry.
This code exists for the students who have pursued and passed B.Sc. with at least any of the two subjects among Biology/ Biotechnology, Physics and Chemistry.
This code is for the students who have completed their education equivalent to the 10+2 level with the subject of Science.

Eligibility Criteria for Foreign Students
For students who study in the countries other than India, there are different criteria. These criteria are essential fulfill for securing admission. These are:
- The candidate must have qualified any education, equivalent to the Class 12th under the Indian Education System.
- He/ She must qualify that examination with subjects of Biology, Physics and Chemistry.
- It is to make sure that the student should secure the qualifying marks in these subjects including the practical tests.
Number of Attempts for NEET 2021
A candidate can now (after the 2018 amendment) appear in the NEET examination as many as times provided, he/she must fulfil all the eligibility requirements. As of now, there is no restriction on the number of attempts for NEET.
