NEET 1st Round Counselling: The NTA NEET UG 2021 is an entrance examination for the candidate who wants to make a career in the medical and dental profession. Any candidate who wants to join any medical field in the future has to clear this examination with a minimum of 50% score. NEET 1st Round Counselling 2021

NTA NEET conducts the first round of counselling after the results are declared. The result is released by the NTA on the basis of ranks obtained by the participating students. Based on the rank, students are called for the further process, which is the All India Quota (AIQ) Counselling. The AIQ counselling is counselling at the All India Level and this counselling is for the 15% of the seats in the top most colleges of India.

So, after the examination, the candidate has to wait for the NEET UG 2021 merit list and the candidate who will clear the examination with the qualifying marks will get the opportunity to participate in the first class of counselling. .  Only those candidates are liable for the first round of counselling who has their name in the list.  At the time of counselling, the candidate class 10th and 12th marks are also seen and also the score NEET-UG for the medical and dental courses.

NEET 1st Round Counselling 2018 Schedule

Directorate General of Health Sciences (DGHS) conducts the whole process of counselling on account of the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). To sit for this counselling, students have to do their registration on the official website of the MCC. Once the First round is over, students are then called up for another round of counselling to fill up the remaining seats.


After the result declaration, the candidates who get their name on the merit list have to register themselves for the counselling process, which is the first step to admission to the college. The students who do not get selected have to wait for the next round. This is because the next round is conducted so that the left students who could not get admission in the first round can make up to the next round. As soon as they get their name in next level of counselling, they will be given admission into all government/ central medical and dental colleges in India.

Important Documents for Counselling

The student, about to sit for the counselling has to take along some important documents on the day of Counselling. The documents which are essential to carry, are detailed below:

The authority which is responsible to announce the counselling dates is MCC and the NTA. It is to be noted that official dates for the NEET will be published after the NEET UG 2021 Results are declared. Only after the results are declared, the student can proceed to the next step.

Eligibility for NEET 1st Round Counselling

Any candidate who wants to sit for the further process of Counselling needs to fulfil some criteria. These are the eligibility criteria set up by various institutions which participate in the process of Counselling. To sit for Counselling, a student must make sure to fulfil the criteria mentioned below:

  • He/ She should have cleared the NEET UG 2021.
  • The candidate seeking admission should be registered on the official website of MCC.
  • He/ She should have passed Class 12 from an acknowledged institution with the required percentage.

Criteria for some Central universities

Criteria for Institutional Seats in Aligarh Muslim University (AMU): Candidates seeking admission in AMU keeps additional quota seats of the institution. These are 50% of the seats and for these seats, a candidate needs to be a student of AMU atleast for three years. The rest 50% of the seats will be under the MCC NEET UG Counselling.

Banaras Hindu University (BHU): BHU has no such stringent criteria for seat allotment. All of its seats can be filled up by amy student willing to secure admission under the institution.

15% Seats of Delhi University colleges (MAMC, LHMC, UCMS): Similar to any other University, these seats of Delhi University are also filled up by AIQ Counselling. All students seeking admission for the state quota seats under DU must have completed their Class 11th and 12th from any local institute of Delhi.

Institutional Quota Seats under Faculty of Dentistry, Jamia Millia Islamia: Under the institute, there are about fifty seats of BDS. Forty seven of these seats are under the NEET UG Counseling and the remaining is under institution. These seats will be for any students who have completed their +2 from Jamia Millia Islamia only.

Process of NEET 1st Round Counselling

To sit for the counselling at the All India Level, students have to follow a certain process to finally sit for the counselling. We are breaking down this process into steps, students can follow this process and sit for the counselling.

Step 1: Registration: The initial step to sit for the counselling process, is to register yourself. Students who are interested to sit for Counselling can fill a registration form available online on the official website of MCC

Step 2: Form Filling: After registering on the official website of MCC, the next to proceed with is filling of application. Students have to enter all of his details like personal details and Academic details. Also, you need to enter some general details like your registration number and NEET UG 2021 result details.

Step 3: Fee Payment: To sit for the counselling, students has to pay an amount known as Counselling fee. This fee varies according to the category. It includes the non-refundable application fee and a tuition fee which will be refunded in case the student does not wish to take admission.

Step 4: Filling Choices: The next step in counselling is to fill the choices. To fill choices, you need to log in to your registered account on the official website of MCC. Choose Course and Colleges as per your preference order. Student filling the choice can fill as many choice he/ she wants. Make sure to secure a copy of your filled up choices.

Step 5: Seat Allotment: As per the choices filled up by the students, seats will be allotted to them. A list will be made available on the official website of the MCC.

Step 6: College Reporting: After the seat allotment is done, students can visit their allotted college on the specified day and time. They can secure their admission by submitting the fee and providing the required documents.
