Government Medical College Amritsar: The college comes into existent in the year 1864 in Lahore and was known as “Lahore medical school”. It then shifted to Amritsar in 1920. In 1943 the school was upgraded in the name of the Government Medical College Amritsar.
After its establishment, the medical college has produced some best doctors in the country. The college is affiliated from Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot and Medical Council of India (MCI). It’s a government medical college and come under the government of Punjab.

Admission in the college is based on marks obtained in the NEET examination by the student. If the candidate has scored well in the examination, then he can apply for the admission in the college. The college offers various courses in undergraduate and postgraduate level. There are more than 30 subjects for MD and other programs for the student.

There are 200 seats available for the MBBS program and 40 seats for the dental program. 100 seats are available for the students who want to join PG program as per the subject, and candidate can opt for the different subject as per their interest.

Government Medical College Amritsar NEET Cut Off
The NEET (National Eligibility Entrance Test) for the candidate who wants to make their career in the medical and dental program. Every year college gets admission by the NEET examination. Only those students who not only just passed the exam but also achieved a good rank in it will get admission.
The conducting Board for the examination is National Testing Agency (NTA). The board is also responsible for issuing admit card to the candidates as well as to declare the results on its official website. NEET UG examination is conducted in May month, and the result is declared in June.
For admission in the college it is compulsory for the student to pass class 12th with a minimum of 55% marks and must have good score and rank in the NEET examination. This is the case of every good medical college available in all India level.
GMC Amritsar MBBS Cut Off 2020
After the declaration of result, the NTA will come up with a minimum of percentile required and score as per the category. It will be the minimum criteria for giving up the admission. Those who have scored less than it will not get admission in any medical and dental institution in the country. The cutoff list is decided as per the application of the student every year.
NTA will be declaring the cutoff list marks in two different categories which are the All India Quota and the State Level Cut off.

The cut marks will be released by NEET. Under 15% of the All India Quota, seats will be allotted to the candidates who have cleared the cut off ranks/marks.
